Regaining footing after a mission trip can be challenging.
Sometimes we want to pick up where we left off before the trip, which can cause some tension. The 'you' before the mission trip is not the same 'you' after the mission trip, and things back home didn't pause just because you were gone. There can be a restlessness when returning home; you want to get back to work, carry on as you were before you left, but the work may have changed in the time you were gone, and you certainly have changed.
Returning from Miami has been a time of recalibration as we continue to seek where and how God wants us to serve.
Fasting, praying and spending time in devotionals has been crucial in this time of adjustment, and God is faithful when we dedicate time to fellowship with Him and ask Him earnestly to teach us how to walk with Him. He is also faithful to put key people in your life that can encourage you and help you have the right perspective - we should always remember, however, that God wants you to depend on Him, not on 'key people'.
Our prayers for this week have been for God to lead us to where He is already working, that we can join Him and bear lasting fruit. John 15:5 says: "I am the vine and you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit, because apart from Me you can do nothing."
On our weekend returning home, we hosted a very colorful, very wet back to school bash for our students! We've also started a new sermon painting, planned out a silent auction as part of our fundraising phase for our Kenya mission in November, and have been preparing for our first Jesus + Art workshop at the EpiCenter for next week.
Your prayers have been greatly appreciated and the Lord has been responding - thank you so much!
Please continue to pray as the Lord continues to work through us.
