Family Foundation: El Salvador

We were first invited to the Family Foundation household in 2024 alongside Vision to Hear, and what started as a bit of a surprise visit ended in a night of warmth, encouragement and art! Holistic ministry is a rarity in our current day and age, and the Family Foundation has gone above and beyond to answer the call; these women are discipled and live together under the guidance of a pastoral couple, learning how to cook, clean, manage daily household task and live a life that puts God first. The ministry provides lodging, meals, and helps them with educational costs, freeing them of any worries about how to provide for themselves and their families. This ministry has taken in women who are considered 'high risk' due to their economic and family situations, and has given them an incredible opportunity to focus their lives on what's truly important - walking with Jesus.

There are some exciting renovations underway in the Family Foundation household, and our vision is to fully furnish a ceramics studio for the women to make pottery. This could be a valuable source of additional income for the ministry, as pottery is the most practical and marketable form of art. Clay is also one of the art mediums that most deeply touches the creative center God has blessed us with; God, after all, formed us out of the dust of the earth.

The immediate needs would be shelfing, wet work tables, an industrial sink, pottery wheels, sculpting tools, sponges, a kiln, plywood boards, clay, glazing, vats, ceramic turntables, glaze spray paint guns, masks and exhaust ventilator.

Some of the possible crafts that can be made and sold by the ministry are:

Dinnerware sets

Plant pots

Vases

Soap dishes

Decorative ornaments

In the meantime, we can focus with helping the Family Foundation build a general fine arts studio, where the women can be trained on the fundamentals of studio work.

The cost of furnishings and supplies will be around $1200.
