INAM: El Salvador
National high school helping the youth of San Salvador to thrive.
The youth of San Salvador, the capital of El Salvador, are now experiencing a new sense of security and freedom under a new administration that has successfully ridden the city of the majority of gang violence. With new government programs in place, INAM has excelled in precisely meeting the needs of the inner city youth. There is still a concern, however, that the youth will return to what has been familiar to them for decades - gang extortion. Our goal is to continue providing enrichment programs for the youth in the form of painting camps and host scholarship programs to continue giving the youth viable career alternatives that will keep them away from gangs. There are gifted students in INAM, and we hope to encourage them to continue developing these talents as the country continues to experience a new cultural blooming.
INAM's greatest need lies in raw supplies, scholarships and education.
Currently, there is a need for new shed roofing for it's auto mechanic's garage; currently, their garage roof is constructed from loose tarping, which forces the instructors to cancel class when there's rain. The estimated cost for installing the new roofing is $15,000. With stable roofing, classes can continue uninterrupted during their wet seasons.
There are also mural projects available for the campus; we are planning on painting a portrait of Jesus in their traditional native style, to promote a unification of their cultural identity with Jesus Himself, who is Lord over all nations and tribes.
